Noisia to Headline This Year’s EXIT X-Bass

The iconic Dutch drum’n’bass tri Noisia arrives at EXIT’s Visa Fusion Stage, heading up the 13 new announcements for this year’s X-Bass programme that will shake the Petrovaradin Fortress walls from 7th to 10th July! Thijs de Vlieger, a member of the legendary production trio, will also present his solo project under the pseudonym Thys, while the strongest-ever line-up of EXIT’s X-Bass Pit will feature Harriet Jaxxon, LSB, Peree, ScreamartsBillain, SK3T & Minimalist, Slink, Tendo, Haringa, DSPT, and C:Critz. They all join the previously announced acts, including Nemy, Souldrive, Euphorics & Edge MC, Synchronicity, Baboon, Drop Sensei, BoJah MC, Bane, Indukt, and Buzzin.

The X-Bass programme, consisting of 25 big names from the global, regional, and local drum’n’bass scenes, has been given a new leader — the phenomenal Groningen trio Noisia, who have greatly influenced and defined the direction in which the genre has developed. They have won several Drum&Bass Arena awards, including Best Production, Best Track (the famous “Dead Limit”, an indispensable part of any DnB rave), Best Music Video (“Mantra”) and Best Album (“Outer Edges”). Although the band’s members announced in 2019 that they would go their separate ways after a two-decade-long career, the famous Noisia will gather once again this summer and deliver a special DJ set to the audience at EXIT’s Visa Fusion Stage!

Thijs de Vlieger, one of the members of the iconic group, will also present his solo project to the X-Bass Stage audience under the pseudonym Thys. His first solo release is the futuristic EP “Unmoved Mover/Unwound” – an odyssey of breakbeats, dystopian synthesisers and orchestral transitions – after which he released “Ghostcards” in 2021. “Unmoved Mover/Unwound” was recorded at Vlienger’s Groningen studio, which is also the base of the Noisia trio.

Harriet Jaxxon, one of the most distinctive drum’n’bass artists to hit the scene in recent years, also joins the X-Bass Pit line-up. Her tracks for the UKF platform have more than a million streams, and her previous releases have found their way onto releases from leading labels such as Drum & Bass Arena and Hospital Records. None of this comes as a surprise considering her musical background, which extends from old-school hip-hop through jungle and UK garage classics, as well as the passion for drum’n’bass she’s had since her first rave.

Luke Stephen Beavon – LSB from Great Britain, brings the so-called “rollers” and melodic liquid drum’n’bass, one of the most popular directions within the genre. LSB has been involved in music production since 2007, when he released “The Eleventh Hour” for the Deep Soul Music label, followed by releases for Demand Records, Spearhead, Integral and Hospital Records.

“I am where DnB is” – this is the motto of Petra Žnidaršič Peree, a Slovenian newcomer and rising star who will join us in the oasis of the highest-quality drum’n’bass this year. Peree is part of the group Basolovka from Ljubljana, and she participates in events produced by this collective as a resident.

Screamarts is a young drum’n’bass producer from Salzburg, Austria, who began his music career ten years ago. Since then, he has used his production skills to take a leading role among the new artists in the genre. He is known for his dark and melodic sound and a minimalist and technologically driven musical taste, presented on Noisia Radio, Drum & Bass Arena, and DNB Portal, among other channels and labels. In 2018, he left an impressive mark on the music scene with releases for top labels, including Bad Taste Recordings, Subplate Recordings, Flexout, Blackout, Eatbrain, and Dispatch Recordings.

Billain, an internationally acclaimed producer and DJ from Sarajevo, entered the music scene in 1998 when he started producing and playing techno music. He also had a brief foray into hip-hop beat-making but established himself as a drum’n’bass producer soon after. He is part of the Kontra collective, which laid the foundations for the DnB scene in Bosnia and Herzegovina. His tracks can be found in releases from labels such as Syndrome Audio, Citrus, Legendary Bad Taste, Rise Audio, Mindtech, Civil Music and Hospital. All of this has got him airtime on BBC Radio 1 and the EP release “Colossus” for the world-famous UKF.

Haringa Selectah also comes from Bosnia and Herzegovina. He has been involved in DnB since 2001, throwing parties within the 05dobrocrew team, while his selection spans “from funk to humour,” in his own words.

After a joint debut triumph earlier this year, sharing the stage with the giants of the global bass scene Black Sun Empire, Minimalist from Osijek and SK3T from Belgrade will bring a special B2B set. The local line-up will be bolstered by jungle/drum’n’bass DJ Slink from Belgrade, Tendo and DSPT from Novi Sad, as well as producer C:Critz, who will present a deep/minimal spectrum of the genre, having had the opportunity to share the stage with international acts such as AMC, Delta Heavy, Technimatic, The Upbeats and others.

They all join the acts we have announced before, including renowned local producer Nemy, a veteran of the Novi Sad drum’n’bass scene Souldrive, Belgrade’s Euphorics & Edge MC, the Niš duo Synchronicity, Bane, Buzzin, Indukt, a multi-genre duo from Novi Sad – Baboon, BoJah MC, as well as X-Bass Pit hosts – the Drop Sensei collective.
