- Following a world tour with five international dates in recent months, Sónar will celebrate its 25th Anniversary in Barcelona on 14, 15 and 16 June.
- In addition to holding 24 festivals in Barcelona, since 2001, Sónar has held 65 festivals in 31 cities around the world.
- Of the international artists featured at this year’s Sónar around the world events, the Barcelona edition this June will feature: Alva Noto, Black Coffee, Lanark Artefax, TOKiMONSTA, Kode9 x Koji Morimoto, Lorenzo Senni, Laurent Garnier and Laurel Halo.
- The best contemporary Spanish artists were also represented at Bogotá (BFlecha), Buenos Aires (C. Tangana and AWWZ) and Reykjavík (Bad Gyal and JASSS).
The 2nd edition of Sónar Istanbul, took place on April 6 and 7, spread over four 4 stages at the Zorlu Performing Arts Center. This venue is considered to have some of the best sound acoustics in the world and hosted performances from leading international names, as well as stand-out artists from the current Turkish scene.
Among more than 40 performances at Sónar Istanbul were superlative shows from artists includingFatboy Slim, Jon Hopkins, Alva Noto and Black Coffee. Moreover, the festival hosted a wide selection of local artists who best define today’s Turkish scene.
Concurrently to the festival Sónar+D – the congress dedicated to creative technologies – offered an extensive program consisting of more than 30 activities, including workshops, lectures, as well as interactive virtual reality activities and new media art installations.
Sónar Hong Kong celebrated its second festival on Saturday, March 17. The festival, spread across 5 stages at the Hong Kong Science Park, presented 41 live performances and DJ sets, as well asSónar+D, which included a comprehensive program of special workshops, lectures, interactive virtual reality activities, new media art installations and MarketLab, a space for creators of the year’s most outstanding technology initiatives.
Sónar Buenos Aires celebrated its fourth festival on Sunday, November 26, 2017. The festival, spread across 3 stages at Tecnópolis (Bicentennial Micro-Stadium), presented 28 live performances and DJ sets, as well as a special Sónar+D program, featuring a wide-ranging series of workshops, lectures, interactive virtual reality activities and new media art installations.
